Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?

First up, I must give a shout out to my friend  T. Wayne who sparked the idea to do this post.

He was reflecting on how he felt about Christmas songs being played on the airwaves long before December.

I realized that I hadn’t heard much Christmas music/carols on our radio stations or in our supermarkets. Sure, the stores are filled with all the glitter of Christmas promotions of gifts, chocolates, cakes and decorations but it certainly doesn’t feel or sound like the Christmas ambience and rituals I grew up with. I know for sure that I had my fill of Jingle bells and Boney M’s continuous looping of their Christmas album. I’d love to know what your experience of Christmas is like these days.

Coming from the Southern Hemisphere, dreaming of a white Christmas is just that – a dream. Our Christmas falls squarely in the midst of Summer which is very different from the pictures we see in the movies of snow falling and fireplaces burning. I guess we do make a fuss about cooking up a storm on Christmas eve. I’d like to share a preview of what I’ll be listening to while the roast is in the oven.🌲⭐️🎄🎄🎈🎈🍲🍷

Here’s wishing you all a merry Christmas and happy holidays if you don’t celebrate Christmas.  You can check out T.Wayne’s post here.

  1. Hi Chevvy! First of all, thanks for the shout out. I saw your comment on my post and I had to come here before I responded at my blog. I love the list here and your post. I think everyone loves that version of “Silent Night” by the Temptations.

Christmas here should be cold, but there is no certainty of snow. Last year it was warm for Christmas; I think temperatures were well above normal for late December.

    1. Well, thank you for sparking the thought. It gave me an opportunity to listen to some great Christmas tracks. I just loved the falsetto part of Silent night. In the meanwhile, I’ll keep dreaming of spending a white Christmas one day😀

    1. I guess it’s that fairytale idea of the white Christmas we have. Don’t know if you ever watched a movie called “Serendipity” – that’s the picture I have. Our Christmas spills over to the outdoors because it is quite hot. Still as you say – tis the season. Some red wine, good Christmas music while we cook up a storm and arrange our gifts under the tree – still good enough for me.
