Tree of love

oak tree 3

As a child, my favorite perch

Where dreams were hatched

Fantasies lived,

In the distance,

The vast horizon, a tempting view,

How could I resist but follow you?

I’ve climbed your branches

Adventurously,

Exploring every leaf of you.

Some heady times we’ve had,

Watching new leaves sprout and unfurl,

Then getting wet from a sudden cloud burst.

As the years have turned,

Wrapped in your rings

You’ve given me shelter and freedom.

You and I, we’ve weathered the storms.

Though sometimes left hacked and burnt,

I have learnt

That you’re my place of refuge,

The source of my courage and strength,

My man for all seasons.

So today on this special day

I raise a toast to your Autumn shade

Grateful for the good memories we’ve made!

  1. This is beautiful Chevvy and a blessing indeed to receive both “shelter and freedom” He sounds like a wonderful man. A man for all seasons is always a keeper. Nicely written🍂🌹🌾🍃🍁🌻🌷Hugs

        1. I loved climbing trees as a child, my favorite pastime was climb to the highest point and dream of distant places and get a helicopter view on life. I’m thankful that this has been symbolic of many things I’ve experienced /accomplished- you’ve got me thinking of another poem I have to write 🙂
I’m saying goodnight now. Thank you so much for your friendship. I really do appreciate you. Best. Chevvy.
