Alone

woman alone

All alone in a world full of strangers

wondering if I belong in this place.

An emptiness fills me and spoils

my pretty face,

tarnishes the image I seek,

turning me from strong into meek.

Perhaps with the sunrise, new breaths

of air will prevail.

Perhaps with sunset, I’ll rest my weary soul.

Perhaps in the moonlight,

I’ll find my true guiding star.

But while I am on my own

and feeling so alone,

I’ll quietly shed a tear

for all  I hold most dear.
